Re: Most memorable hunt in N.A.

Mike,

I've hunted NA extensively and had some great hunts for moose, bear, elk, etc., but the most memorable was a Canadian whitetail hunt. I had lived in Canada for four years and friends had found the sheds of a huge buck two years in a row. I found a scrape line and followed it along a ridge and found an area with an enormous primary scrape. It was way back in an area and I camped about half way in for a few days. About 4:30P, on the third day I was sitting in a deadfall watching two small bucks chasing a doe around(read not paying attention) And caught movement out of the corner of my eye...........knew I was busted. The buck, on the scrape, 30yds. broke into the bush out of sight down a trail that crossed in front of me at 50yds. I shot at him with the muzzleloader and missed...........clean miss. I saw him again after the regular rifle season was done around the first week in Dec.
Didn't find his sheds that season. The sheds from the previous two seasons, given a modest 16" spread, scored 186 & change, and 188 & change. I think of him often.

Joe
