Here are a couple of items of interest:

1. There are 100 - 200 bears living permanently in the city of Asheville, NC. Some of them panhandle downtown, or so I am told. I am not certain that they vote, but I suspect that they do.

2. The largest black bear slain in Eastern NC was 880 lbs. The largest black was taken in Manitoba, and weighed over 900 lbs., dressed weight.
