G'Day Fella's, Szihn, these days, the primary bullet weight I use in my 3 or 4 (?) .308 Win's, is 125 and 130grn bullets. This includes, Nosler (B/Tip) 125grn and Hornady, Woodleigh PP and Speer (HP) 130gr bullets. I have shot a heap of pigs, goats and Skippy's with the Speer 130grn HP's but these days, I wouldn't hesitate using any of the others (but probably not the 130grn Speer HP) on Deer, but only when I had the time to select my shot, and not on Sambar Deer or in your case, Wapiti/Elk. The best Chamois I have shot (10" - 250mm), was with my Rem M600 in .308 Win, with the 125grn Nosler B/Tip (@ 3040fps). He only went 3 feet after the 200meter shot hit (shoulder shot), and all 3 Feet was Down. Hope that helps D'oh! Homer |
