Re: Back from my hunt early.

VERY nice!

Lots of good eating, a nice rick and good memories.
Congratulations.

I have killed only 4 in my life.
My first one was a very long shot. Longer than I'll shoot now, but I was young and on leave from the Marines, time for the hunt was limited and I shot long distances then for a living in those days. So I did it and make a good kill. I used a 375H&H with a 3X scope.
The other three were killed closer. One in Alaska was with a 348 Win at about 35-40 yards.
Another with my 375 at about 125 yards.
And one with a 62 caliber flintlock at about 75 yards.

I have gone along as a "pack mule" on 5 other moose hunts and all of them were kills at 125 and closer. One was killed at about 20 feet.
So 9.3x64 is correct in his assumption that most are killed close, but there is always that chance of a longer shot. I love to get close to everything I hunt. Even antelope. (in fact, especially antelope) That's the most fun part of the hunt to me. But I have made some kills with long range tools at close range. So I think the gun and scope are just fine. It's never really about the gun or scope as much as it is the hunter anyway.
Casper50 obviously did the job just fine.
