I had very similar thoughts....but then its hard to get a steady bead while sliding around in the overflow of your underwear...

No mention of the firearm he was using. "Shell" perhaps even a shotgun?
As for the sliding around in his underwear, when the shit hits the fan, pun intended, things go wrong, rifles get jammed, etc, one reason, professionals train long and hard, so muscle memory kicks in instead.
