That was enough land for grain crops like corn, wheat or barely along with hay fields for the cattle's winter feed and pasture for summer feed.

You would never do there here in Montana--low rains and soil content would never allow that..back in N Dakota in the Red River Valley you could..but not here...that is impressive..
