Coyotes will do the same with a herd of sheep, when teaching the pups to hunt or kill. Walcott Road, B.C. 1974 - Les Hatfield was warned by Les Hawkes (close friend of mine, both gone, now, of course) back in the 70's not to buy sheep due to the proliferation of coyotes in the Bulkley Valley. Les H. bought sheep anyway and lost them all in one night in the late summer, early fall - 20 or more sheep. The 'yote-pack' didn't eat any of them & this happened only about 6 to 700yards from his house, between the house and the highway, where Hatfield thought "they'll be safe". |
