Re: Best coyote caliber---223 or 22-250???

A local friend of mine has switched from his normal .300 WTBY mag to a .22-250 Ruger for his deer hunting. He's not had one go more than a couple steps after receiving a 45gr. TSX through the lungs. They are very accurate with his load and are only running about 3,550fps which is closer to .222 and .223 ballistics. His loads using the 60gr. Partition are also very accurate, but have not been tested on deer yet.

I've only fired his .22-250 once, at a wolf running across an overgrown logging slash - appearing now and then, mostly just a head or butt and back while bounding. It was pretty thick. Would have been a feather in my cap, had I hit him - or her. About 250yards distance and rapidly getting further away. Oh well.
This is NOT a condemnation on that calibre or rifle, just my shooting.
