I was hunting up around Hudson Hope when one morning we woke up to helicopters. A hunter had been mauled about 20 km's from where we were, and each year there seems to be more bears (grizzlies). We had one come in on us when we were skinning and quartering a moose, though it was young and kept it's distance. We were just loading up and got the hell out of there. The gov't should grow a pair and issue more permits or open the season again. It was closed for political reasons (I know you know, just telling the others). There is a lot of talk among hunters to just shoot, shovel and shut up and a lot of old timers say "the only good bear is a dead bear". All this said, I am more apprehensive about cats than bears. |
