Not sure if it was just luck or whatever..but my first trip to Alaska I brought along a rabbit mouth call..Heard one howling one morning as I was waking up..headed his way while it was just getting light..found him sitting on a hillside..broke out the call and let go for about 30 seconds..he got up, stretched out and starting trotting my way..hammered him with a 7-300 Weatherby wildcat at around 265 yards or so... think that might be part of the success route..find them first as you suggested..then turn on the call... I do hunt coyotes quite a bit in the winter..that seems to wrk really well on them.. Good luck.. Ripp |
