On Wednesday, October 10, 2012, the Minnesota Court of Appeals cleared the way for the state’s wolf hunt to proceed as planned. The Court denied a preliminary injunction to stop the hunt that had been requested by animal rights groups. The court ruled that the groups failed to demonstrate that the harvest would cause their members irreparable harm. Although an emergency stay of the hunt was averted, the underlying case to challenge the legality of the hunt will continue. The groups will proceed with their claim that the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources did not allow adequate public input in the wolf hunt rulemaking process. Safari Club International will soon be asking the court for leave to intervene in the case and to join the state in defending the hunt. |
