Agree..think a 28"on a hunting rifle is way too long..actually prefer a 24 on most when I am hiking through the forest and a 22" when in Africa as most shots are relatively close and I find it quicker in the really thick stuff...

I read a test in test several years ago and if memory serves me correctly, there was not that much of a difference on teh 300 Ultra from a 28 to 26" barrel..but from a 26 to a 24" the difference was significant...
