Once wolves become firmly established you can't shoot enough to cause the numbers to drop even the slightest. On the eastern slopes of Alberta the trappers as well as the hunters do their best but it's a losing battle. Our game herds have been decimated. In the past it was poison that controlled and eliminated some packs entirely. Best practice hunting will do nothing and I repeat nothing to the pack numbers. In most cases the pack will continue to grow simply because they are a tough animal to hunt or even trap. Gotta go before I start ranting. |
