What exactly is West Nile disease? Is it mosquito borne? Effects and symtoms? I am a little in the dark on this one. CWD? Is this similar to Jacob Kreuzefeld Disease? Is it a "brain" disease in beasts? Deer are not native to Australia. In South Australia the government officially views them as pests (ie not "native"). Hunting organisations have had to fight hard overtime to keep viable herds in existence along with some land owners. Just recently a large number of fallow deer were shot out by government shooters in a "management area" of a club I belong to. Some red deer were wild in the area and had been found to have become infected. So there was an excuse to shoot a large number of fallow deer and after at least 60 being shot, having found no infections they were forced to stop.
