Quote: The older boy was using my uncle's Remington VTR .308, and I'm not sure which rounds he had it loaded with. The younger one was shooting our 7mm-08 Ruger Frontier, using an HSM load with 139 grain Hornady Interbonds. SharpsNitro- Just about any place in Texas can be good hog hunting, from the northern panhandle to the coastal plains (where these were killed). There's practically no public land available in Texas, so you'll have to hunt with an outfitter of some sort. Since pigs can be very nomadic, my recommendation is to book on the biggest ranch you can find, giving the outfitter a bunch of options to put you on them during your hunt. Also, if you hunt in southwest or very far south Texas you'll probably have a chance to hunt hogs and javelina (Peccary) on the same hunt. |
