Was out scouting for elk this past weekend..was glassing the hills when I spotted what appeared to be a dead steer laying on the edge of some timber..after closer inspection, noticed a pretty good sized black bear eating on him...only rifle with me was my coyote gun...using a .243 loaded with 70 Grain Nosler Ballistic Tips... Snuck to within 240 yards...the bear rested his head on the steer carcass..I let one fly--hit him through the eyeball....turned out to be a really nice bear..guessing he was 8 to 10 years old... Ripp this is the steer he was feeding on... ![]() And the bear.. ![]() |
