Re: Hunting Wolves

Quote:

People normally think of wolves as being the same or slightly larger German Shephard dogs. That may be so elsewhere - these wolves are not those stunted varieties. Picture 125 to 175 pounders, with 1 3/4" of canines protruding from their jaws. They are killing machines.

Excellent post.

Daryl, this too plagues us, in that we had smaller wolves here in the state when the Feds dumped northern Canadian wolves on us. Whether they remain able to maintain body size indefinitely here we do not know, but we do know that the genetics of these wolves has given them a body size and killing capacity that gives them a devastating advantage over our ungulates AND our bear and lion.

Many do not know that they run lion off kills, reducing body condition of lion and eventual death, and wolves kill bear both by directly attacking them during the warm months and by digging out hibernating bear and killing them in winter.

I really do not understand WHY it is that "modern man" cannot grasp that certain organisms are BAD for people and for the ecosystem itself. It boggles my mind.

I suppose it is merely a matter of time before the "blessings of small pox" are "discovered" and celebrated and small pox "reintroduced" for the benefit of the biological diversity of the planet.
