I know the worst is the 25-06.

"Deer" is very nebulous. I've seen deer from 30 feet to 300 yards, 90 Lbs to 200 Lbs. I've seen them from all angles.

I don't own one, but on paper ballistics favor the .35 whelen, especially for monster mullies.
