Isn't a 458 a bit excessive for deer? Just asking...but out here, while the shots tend to be farther..you can still drop them in their tracks with placement versus size of bore..seems as though the high shoulder shot works quite well and drops them immediately in their tracks--agree with the above post--270 or 280 is more than adequate on deer..if shot placement is correctly done.
