Another Deer for the Boys
|
|
Brother-in-law took all three of my sons to the central Texas hill country yesterday to wrap up the "regular" deer season. Poor dad had to stay home & work so he can keep paying for their ammunition.
My 8-year-old middle son connected on a doe this evening...pretty severe downhill angle at around 80 yards but he made a clean heart shot on her (that's the exit wound in the picture). He has yet to miss or lose an animal; I'm afraid when that day comes he'll be crushed but for now he thinks "bang / flop" is the way this game is played.
Hopefully big brother will get a chance at a buck in the morning.

Congratulations to your son! My youngest still hunts with me some but now that he is in his early twenties he hunts mostly the two legged deer:) I had the opportunity to hunt with my cousins young son this year and he took his first deer, a cull buck. I think I was more excited than he was. Looks like a fine young man, he must have a good dad.
