Deer hunting methods

I'm wondering what everyone's favorite meathod is to hunt deer? Do you spot and stalk, ambush, or just drive roads? My favorite is the ambush, finding a nice clearcut and sitting motionless just in the trees waiting for the deer to come out. Here in B.C. I'm not allowed to bait so I just go off the sign in the area.

It will depend on the country. We just got back from Wy. We did quite a bit of spotting and also quite a bit of pushing the quakie patches. This worked better once the game had realized that the season had opened. We had a great trip and saw lots of game.

I just got back from a deer hunt where I connected with a 6x5 non typical mule deer (not including the brow tines. It is hard to tell in the picture). I haven't scored it but from looking at it people have told me 165-175 B&C. http://photobucket.com/albums/v482/adamtayler/th_79720014.jpg It is the best buck I have taken to date.

Taos,
That's the way we tend to do it here. We also work the Mahogany ridges...a hunter on each side. If hunting alone I still hunt...move a bit and glass...move a bit and glass.

Still hunting by following the fresh tracks. Not the most productive because they do spook when you get close. But, it is REAL HUNTING in every sense of the concept. Everything you learn from it makes all other styles more productive and more interesting.
I hunt Blacktails and it really works on them. One reason so many people seem to think finding Blacktails is the most difficult hunting around, is because so few people still hunt them now.
Road hunting has its moments. You can visit with old friends you dont see often. You can get to places where you can make another still hunt. On really stormy days you can actually find a lot of deer doing it while staying dry and safe. But, if its the only way you hunt then maybe you should just watch NASCAR at home instead.
Sitting in tree stands is another way of spelling boredom.
