I built an 8 bore for an avid hunter, who was getting a bit up in years.
He could no longer see iron sights, but was loathe to give up on his hunting.
So I used a "scout scope' from Burris. It's in intermediate eye relief scope. Not the typical long eye relief scopes used for pistols.
It does detract from the look of the rifle, but it allows him to hunt for many years more to come
