OSHA has regs posted to the Federal Register that will make shipping Blackpowder via UPS etc nearly impossible. Probably willbe impossible since I doubt the shippers will jump through the hoops OSHA will put up. Will also effect smokeless and primers but not sure how badly. Its back door gun control and if you look at who runs the Senate Committee with OSHA oversight its not likely its accidental. Bad part is that almost everyone missed this until a few days ago and the Fed Reg comment period is almost expired. Better contact your congressional delegation. Fish & Game in your state and any shooting related businesses. Anyone who wants to post comments to OSHA concerning the proposed regulation changes go to http://www.regulations.gov/fdmspublic/component/main I had to do the search form parts 1 thru 4 (its easy) and enter OSHA-2007-0032 as the docket # in #4 Select exact phrase then submit. Took about 3 trys to get to the comment form. Used a well reasoned argument. Don't rant. Tell them why these things, ridiculously small store displays of powder and primers are an excessive burden on the seller and the buyer. Explain that the rules for vehicles carrying BP are equally excessive. Explain that you absolutely oppose the proposed changes and demand these parts be stricken from the rule changes. This is not something we can afford to let go unchallenged. Dan From Powder Inc's website June 29, 2007: ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Proposed OSHA shipping regulations. You have until 7-12-07 to contact your Senators, Congressmen, NRA, NNLRA or any other group you think can help us get the proposed regulation defeated. If the proposed regulations are made into law, it will be impossible, or very, very expensive to ship black powder, smokeless powder, or primers by UPS or FedEX. We will post any news as we receive it. July 12, 2007 is the last date for public comments. We don't know when the law would take effect if passed. |
