No doubt it was used in a variety of single-shot rifles at the time, and probably a few doubles, but is most 'famous' in Gibb's own Farquharson-actioned rifles. The cartridges were at their best when shot through Metford-rifled barrels. Ross Seyfried took a Gibbs/Metford rifle chambered for the .461 Gibbs No.2 cartridge to Africa a couple of years ago and shot a nice buffalo with it.
