Jason: I had one several years ago and had wonderful fun with it. Why I swapped it off is still a mystery to me. I shot it with both round balls and conicals. To see two of the conicals I used, look for the photo of four bullets under the "Building a big-bore muzzleloader" thread. I only fired one of the 1100-grainers, as I had but two, but I shot a couple of dozen of the 835-grain bullets, from NEI mold 399, I believe. They were nicely accurate, as I recall. I will hunt for my chronograph notes. The .715 patched round balls were very pleasant to shoot with up to 150 grains of FFg. There is a guy who casts commercially -- think his name is Wayne Dudna -- who can fix you up with some of the conicals if you want to try them. You are in for a real treat with your Kodiak .72. |
