My Kodiak shot well with 120 gr 2F and 58 cal patched RB and shot well enough for hunting with a Hornady 525 gr cronical bullets. For MLs, I remove the barrels from the stock and put a long plastic on the nipples. Hold the barrels (& tubing) vertically, pour hot water down the barrels. Use a patched rod to pump the water out the plastic tube, pouring in more water till the water runs clear. I shake the water out, spray the bore with WD40 (adsorbs water) and use a hair dryer to dry the barrels. I then swab the barrels with a good gun oil. I don't use WD40 as a lub or a rust protector because WD40 was formulated as a water displacer (WD). There was a very good article in DGJ (Vol 1, 2002) about hunting in Africa with a 58 cal Kodiak. I bought my Kodiak after reading that article. I would post the srticle if I knew how to post |
