Yes - 14 bore does have benefits. Higher speeds, for instance.

Some people find the 482gr. ball, or the 466gr. 15 bore ball I shoot in mine, has more than enough recoil, especially with full power hunting loads of 6 drams.

I find it quite enough, as well.
