I made sure that when I shot it, I held the forend in my left hand, with the back of my hand on the bench rest bag. No bag at the rear. I found it then shot identically as when shot offhand. The 2 in the bullseye were with the load that was shooting different elevations, yet by holding appropriately, I was able to put right and left almost together. Forsyth spoke of this as using "aiming dodges" to make a poor shooting double to appear to be properly regulated. So much better when the barrels shoot together. I did some work on the nipples, and fences. as received - long nipples, hammers not cupping the fences and ruddy stain and finish with too much bright metal. I found cold blue to darken their shiny stuff, quite nicely. |
