I was handed a couple of rusty kit rifles the other day. Both assembled. .45 flint full stock, looks like early CVA Kentucky (original owner scribed '76 Dean-Built on the side plate), and a .50 caplock, an early CVA Mountain Rifle with 66 twist barrel and four screw patch box. I've revived the caplock. Took a lot of barrel attention. The flinter will take a lot more work. Broke out the bear oil, my hands smell so damn good. I want to get out in timber for black bear now... |
