possibly Persian and for the near eastern market with heavy fine damascus 29 3/4in. barrel carved with raised arabesque caps at muzzle and breech and a raised intermittent sighting rib joined with narrow carved bars, all with traces of gilt koftgari-work, dove-tailed foresight with small side protectors, folding tang sight (incomplete), the top of breech with Arabic maker's mark repeated on the borderline and scroll engraved bar action lock, scroll engraved hammer (spur repaired), walnut full-stock with carved raised cheek-piece, skip-chequered at the wrist with relief scroll carved pommel, engraved iron patch-box and heel-plate, winged sidenail escutcheon, single set trigger, sling swivels and under-barrel ramrod (wood with some cracks and repairs, one barrel-key absent) "
