Lancaster smooth rifle .50 cal

Sometime around 1862 or so Dr. Lindley stopped by 151 Bond St. to buy himself what I like to think of as a retirement gift. He was forced to retire from both the Royal Horticultural Society and his work with the Paris Universal Exhibition around this time due fainting fits and chronic headaches. It appears the rifle has not seen much use in its life as it remains in stunning original condition today. Its original mold casts a 415 gr bullet and takes a charge of 3 drams of powder. It is sighted with a single standing leave and two folding leaves marked 150 and 250.
