The balls run 4, down to 180 to the pound.

The .682", along with 2 slug moulds, the one I made and the factory 730gr. Lyman Minnie for the .69 rifled muskets are 4th from the left.

I actually doubt this rifle will see either conical.

The ball and flattened one on the far left, is a 4 bore pure lead ball - 1/4 pound + one recovered from the dirt and rock berm at 325yards from the firing line. It was shot from a 4 bore underhammer rifle Taylor built - 35 years ago, for a lad. Hmmmmmm, wonder if it is still around.

As Forsyth noted, there is no reason to unnecessarily 'shake' the stock. Afterall, it is over or at 160 years old.
