Swamped, Bob - 7 pounds 14 ounces - a bit on the light side but it's length makes up for it and as noted, the barrel is swamped with a long swamp. The balance point is the middle of the Entry-Pipe's tube.(brass piece where ramrod enters the stock for those not familiar with ML parts). As a standard Siler flint-lock was not correct, Taylor converted a Siler cap-lock (plate was easily made correct) to look like the A. Verner lock in the "collector's book" - can't remember the name of it - CLA or something like that. The pan, hammer(frizzen), cock and feather spring and internals are all flint-related parts that needed to be "added". I'm pretty sure the barrel was a one-off order from John Getz, the son or our dear departed friend, Don Getz. He is missed by the 'flock'. Bob - if you come to Rendezvous BC 2016 - I'll cover your camping-entry fee as well. But note - you'll have to shoot against this remarkable rifle! |
