Coleraine ( www.trackofthewolf.com ) - 34" long, 1 1/8" breech X about 1.0325 muzzle (was 1" at 36") - rifle weighs 9.9 pounds and is just over a pound lighter than the rifle Taylor built for himself(second one). 12 bore flinters ARE fun to shoot - trap and birds with shot along with moose or elk with balls. The first moose Taylor shot with a round ball gun, was with a .715" ball from his 11 bore (.75") Lyman Italian Brown Bess (early 1980's) - 100gr. 2F at approximately 100yards. The ball stopped on the far side after holing both lungs- leaving just over a 3" tubular hole through them - I still have the in my collection, expanded out like a 1/4" thick disk well over 1" in diameter. The moose walked some 15 yards and dropped dead while he was reloading. |
