The finish is beeswax only - no oils or varnish - steel parts are colour cased, first time for Taylor - turned out just fine. The barrel is rust blued as-is the tang and aperture due to the aperture being hard silver soldered to the tang. The under rib is solder filled at it's nose, but is riveted to the barrel.

Easy loading for us, with a .0235" railroad mattress ticking patch and .613" ball. The rifling is .012" deep - quick test for function, finished off with a nice 1" group (4 out of 5) with one flyer at 50yards, 1st July, Canada Day. About 30 shots fired to test function, no wiping required during the shooting, spit for lube and rifle's rod used for loading.
