I am using 10% soluble oil in water, partly wet and squeeze out the patches to be just damp. My patches are shop-bought round cleaning patches, with a .490 RB in a CVA .50. They start easily, and I get 3-4 shots before they become harder to seat all the way to the bottom. Not keeping them loaded any long time, the one time I took it hunting I loaded a dry patch below the wet one to slow the moisture from damaging the powder. Now I am looking for a more waxy, drier lube - and wondering if a 'lube cookie' might be a good idea to soften the fouling. |
