Re: All about blunderbusses

I bought a blunderbuss barrel from stonewallcreek outfitters (find them on the web with google) and the stock and all furniture from Micheal Lea (614 291 4757) in Ohio.

The blunderbuss I always wanted was a large bore, so I opted for the 4 BORE! This is a 1.05" bore and it can throw 4 to 4.5 OUNCES about 1500 grains of pellets or a soild round ball that weighs a quarter pound! Just for devastation tetsing I loaded this blunderbuss up with twenty-five 38 caliber round balls over 100 grains of 3F black powder. WOW! Very destructive. After my initial testing I have disassembled the gun and I'm now doing the stain and finish on the wood which will take me about 2 weeks.

The barrel cost about $225 dollars. I chose the steel because the brass was about twice the money. It is a 20" long barrel.

The stock, lock, and all furniture cost about another $525.

So the project is about a $750 project. Not bad for a 4 bore shoulder cannon. You could get a 10 or 11 gauge for about $550 from several sources just check on line using google and the word Blunderbuss.
