a number of years back (3, I think), I bought an M98 sporter in 35 Whelen from someone on this forum... I love the gun. stupid accuracy, looks great, feels great... no complaints for the insanely cheap price I paid. BUT... it won't feed from the magazine. I can get one down and one in, but that's it... it won't feed anything past that. the "tray" that is the floor of the magazine (atop the spring... I want to call it a follower for some reason) is a little chewed up, but not horribly (I don't think). I THINK the issue is with a 250gr spitzer in .358 is just too bloody big/long for what appears to be an unmodified 1918 M98 magazine... so, the question becomes: if this is the likely culprit, is it a DIY job for someone with VERY modest smithing skills. if this is not the likely culprit, what is, and who fix it? Thanks guys. |
