Another thought, If you want 404 ballistics and you have a tight budget, check out a 416 Taylor. The 404 uses .423" bullets and the 416 uses 416 bullets, but that's not much difference in the real world. The 416s are a lot easier to get, and many times, their cheaper too. The .007" smaller diameter is not going to be noticed by an animal. Any 458, 300 mag and most 7mm mags can just be rebarrel and "your there"! Nothing more to do other than sights and finish. The Taylor is a reloaders cartridge however. Super easy to load, but you do have to load them. Of course there's always the 416 Remington too, but it required a magnum length action. |
