While I haven't been around here in quite a long time, my dream of owning a double still lives on. To the point that in the search of something I would buy finally happened at just the right time where I had accumulated the finances to step up to the plate. Unfortunately, I was too slow on the uptake and last Monday when I had contacted the person selling the Rigby I was interested in I was too late and someone else put a deposit on it. So goes life and no use crying over spilled milk. So I went shooting Saturday afternoon at my local range, and ran into the Westley Richards inventory being shot at the bench next to me. During a cease fire, I asked Kevin if they had any Nitro hammerguns, and the one they have (but not listed at present) seemed to be a little bit bigger than I want to own and shoot on a regular basis. A .577 is just not my cup of tea for shooting beer bottles off fence posts on a regular basis. While having a discussion with Kevin's father, I noticed Kevin had pulled out a rifle that had been interesting me for a while. They were kind enough to let me shoot this .425, and unless someone goes in and buys it before the end of next week when I can have all my finances sorted out for the rifle, and required supplies like dies, a well stocked brass and bullet selection, I believe I will buy it. I am just curious if anyone can identify the action on it. I am guessing it is a Brevex from my little knowledge regarding the Mauser clones. ![]() ![]() I am not positive what it is, but I do know that I like the cartridge, it feeds fine, fits my shoulder perfectly, and would make a dandy elk or bear rifle. |
