Hey Guys I recently came across a gun in a blokes collection that I dont think I should pass up. This is what it is - Original Mauser 98 9.3mmm x 62 customized by Ernst Steigleder - Suhl and Berlin (manufacturer from 1921-35) Barrel appears to be 24inch, starts octagonal near the action then smooths to regular shape, ribbing runs the full length of the barrel Action is rounded, untapped and is decorated with engraving, as is the barrel and trigger guard Bore is in excellent condition, bolt is smooth and bolt face unmarked Stock has very thin fitted butt plate with another under the grip stock has good checkering with just a couple of minor dings (should be removable) Wood variety unknown but is pale, possible Teak ?? Front sights has 2 V sights, one of them hinged to fold flat ( are they 100 and 200m ?? ) I have been trying to do researh on Ernst's rifles but there appears to be bugger all of his guns out there apart from his 16g 9.3/74 combo Is this gun too collectable ? Because I'm planning to shoot loads of Pigs, red deer, donkey, horses, camels, Buffalo and Scrub bulls. Thanks |
