Re: Left Hand Magnum Mauser Bolt Assembly

Lee

I understand you now, although I have never come across that particular action myself. The rifles I have are either on Model 70 L/h, Dakota 76 Actions or the non CRF feed Heym from Germany.

I think a number of riflemakers in the U.S could help you out and one in particular could be Denis Olson, a side model 70 safety catch in l/h should pose no problem although the orientation of the lever may mean one has to be made rather than merely bought off the shelf from Brownells.

Alternatively, if the bolt sleeve and cocking piece are identical in dimension and manufacture to those found on Mauser actions, then you could fit a Buehler safety catch, this fits in the same way as the flag safety catch of the original Mausers, but swings through oinly a 55-60* arc rather than 180* as did the flag safety, the beauty of this type of safety is that it can be fitted and still operate safely below a low mounted scope, although again I feel it will be designed to operate on the right hand side of your rifle, which is possibly not what you want.

There are makers here that could do the work, but it would be more cost effective I feel to get the work done in the U.S.

A further thought you could look up Jim Wisner or Ted Blackburn (Precise Metalsmithing Enterprises) both these people make replacement components for Mauser rifles and there exists the possibility that either of them may have or be able to make what you seek, I am sorry I don't have e-mail addresses for them but Think you will find them from the website.

Good luck in your quest and all best wishes for a Merry Christmas and prosperous 2007

Jonathan
