Re: Left Hand Magnum Mauser Bolt Assembly

Jonathan,

I posted a long answer yesterday and it did not show up. Technology "ain't it grand". Or could it be a "senior moment" on my part. Who knows?

Anyway, I have two left hand actions now(almost). One is the receiver only and the other is the Daly Zastava. Both are true left hand operation with bolt, etc. on the left side. A few years ago, I made a decision to not purchase any righties (rifles that is) for my personal use. I have bought a few, but these are for my son's as gifts, etc. We as left handers have to compromise/adapt to the whole world as it is. We always have to modify our life to use right handed implements and not get what is comfortable for us to use. Enough with the whining on my "soap box".

As I say above, both actions are true lefties. I have seen the aftermarket safety systems you mentioned and like the look of all. My only concern is that all my rifles have the safety on the left side. I suppose I could get used to it, but on a DG rifle, familiarity and flawless operation are paramount. Again, we are almost forced to adapt. Additionally, I'm not sure if the right handed versions will even fit on the left hand bolt. The threads on my bolt sleeve are left handed and that makes me think the right handed versions will be threaded with right hand threads. I ordered the Mauser book recommended above and hope it will shed some light on the subject. You mention above the the design of the system; milled slot, etc. I have an extra bolt sleeve if you have a gunsmith that can do the work.

Thanks again for your help..................Merry Christmas..........Lee
