I have a PO Ackley imported, Japanese made 98 Magnum Mauser receiver and I need a bolt assembly for it. I have had this thing for 25+ years and have checked all the usual suspects, Dakota, Granite Mtn., NEGC, Mauser and many others. I finally located and purchased a left hand, standard length, large ring, commercial Mauser action complete with magnum bolt assembly, bottom metal, trigger, etc.

I was recently told by a friend that the bolt length is the same for both standard and magnum receivers and they are interchangeable. I question this, and am hoping one of you regulars at this forum can give me a little guidance.

Is this the case? Are the bolts interchangeable between standard and magnum length receivers? If not, where can I get the left hand bolt assembly? Bottom metal, trigger, etc are pretty easy to come by, but I gotta have that pesky bolt first.

If none of the above is possible, I still can build my DG rifle around this standard action in 458 Win Mag rather than 458 Lott that requires the magnum action.

Your patience with me and my ignorance is appreciated. Any advise/suggestions will be appreciated.
