I must confess, that I have recently fallen in love. On last friday afternoon I met an about eighty year old German beauty. She has some scars, and indeed she seemed to have had hard experiences of life together with rough friends. But beauty doesn't decay, nor does charm. I saw her and was as hit by a flash from a clear sky. She is an old J.P.Sauer Mauser from German Suhl in 10.75x68 mm Mauser. The barrel is ribbed, the bolt is case hardened, bolt stop peep sight, oldfashioned German stock with panels, the barrel pinned to the fore arm, steel grip plate, hinged magasine with lever latch, set triggers and beautiful curled wood. But wood is rather worn by being carried at bad weather moose hunts in the swedish mining districts of Bergslagen and perhaps on some safaris, there have been drilled holes for a side mount and some regrettable fellow has grinded the bolt handle for the scope. And, last but not least I am not quite sure of the condition of the barrel. What is your opinion? Is 1800 SEK (i.e. 200€ or 250$) an appropriate price for it in that condition? Should I get it or leave it? All suggestions and experiences areare welcome! Best regards, mZugu |
