I was searching the autions for a bargin when I saw a KAR98 spoterized an rebarreled in 375 H&H. I know several countries after WW2 rebarreled for 3006. A small notch was cut in the top of the front ring for the extra length. That seems safe enough given the similarities of 8mm an 3006. 375 H&H, on the other hand seems a bit extreme.

The owner said the front ring and the mag box was "lengthened". There was what seemed to my eye a rather large cut out of the front receiver ring for the 375 bullet. I admitt I did bid until it aproached $500, then a modern action seemed the better choice.

Is this safe, to cut that much away from the receiver? Id like to try it on one of my actions if its OK... Any idea who might take on the job?
