For any North American big game including the bears, elk and moose, you could not go wrong with the 9.3x62. : In the same flavour, is the .375 Hawk-Scovil and .375/06 IMP are located, with better bullet choice in North America. My .375/06 IMP has the longer body giving the case the same capacity as the Hawk-Scovil (or perhaps a gr. more) : My hunting loads run from 235gr. Speers at 2,845fps for plains game, to 300gr. bonded Hornady's at 2,470fps for bear and moose. ; If you google .375 Scovil, you'll see some excellent data on what the old '06 case is capable of. Some of the laods are a bit hot, while others are sub-max in my rifle. : My next Mauser project will be a .400 Brown Whelen - maybe a switch-barrel. |
