Wasn't the second the .250 Savage, or perhaps the .244 H&H? My Grandfather Pete used a Ross Rifle in the trenches of WW1 as a (New) Canadian. My G/Grandfather sent him to Canada about 1895/6(I think) at age 17 to buy property for his younger brothers. Moved back to Canada with his new wife and child about 1900, sought citizenship then off to the European war. He passed the year of my birth, 1950. My mom said he was a sniper, however he is not listed as such in records and the only picture I have of Pete in uniform, shows him with a non-scoped Ross Rifle. .280? or more likely .303. He was a "kind" man according to my mom. |
