a P 14 action but you .330 fan boys maybe like it https://www.naturabuy.fr/BSA-1923-SPORTING-RIFLE-CALIBRE-330-BSA-item-12761483.html "The gun presented is a BSA (Birmingham Small Arms) ‘1923 Sporting Rifle’ chambered in the very rare .330 BSA cartridge (also called .330 Belted Nitro Express) specially created for this gun and ...used in no other. What's more, the gun's serial number is only two digits long! The mechanism is that of the regulation P-14 in .303 British with a few modifications: -The protective lugs have been milled off, the original rear sight has been replaced by two eyelets marked 200 & 400 yards which are independently adjustable in drift. The operating lever no longer has its unsightly ‘dog-leg’ shape. The magazine is the original, so the .330 cartridge is the same length as the .303. As for the wood, it is an original military stock transformed into a hunting stock thanks to multiple perfectly executed grooves: The labour force of the time was skilled and cheap! Externally, the metal parts are ‘faded’, the original tan has whitened quite a bit in several places, but there is no rust. The barrel is what it is, not bad at the end but with pitting as early as the connecting cone. In short, it's not ‘mirror-like’. The wood is not bad, it has been cleaned and restored but it still has a few missing parts and signs of wear. As for the cartridge... It's rare, even for collectors! So it will be necessary to remake some. The cases are easy to make because the cartridge is very close to the .338 Winchester Magnum with which it shares a projectile of the same diameter (.338"). You have to start with the 7 mm Remington Magnum or the .338 Winchester Magnum and lower the shoulder. Given its rarity, I had custom dies made at CH-4D because it wasn't in the catalogue. But a shortened LEE set makes it possible to lower the shoulder. The case taper is the same as that of the .375 H & H. The projectiles are standard .338 but the gun has a long rifling pitch to fire the 165 grain bullet and I haven't found anything lighter than .200 grain on the market. this one is poorly stabilised. The gun comes with a set of CH-4D dies, a set of Lee dies for forming, an 8.4 mm drill for reaming cases after reforming, and an original cartridge in its original box. The site rules forbid the sale of recalibrated cases (I had made about sixty). The gun will be shipped disassembled. It is obvious that this weapon can interest only a lover of sheep with 5 legs which likes the challenge and controls the reloading. If you're looking for a ready-to-use weapon, move on." |
