Thank you Huvius and Hunter, P O Ackley did a series of blow up tests and the Mauser 98 with the dovetail failed with an overload that was less than that for the standard receiver 98 but we're talking overloads far in excess of the capacity of the 30-o6 case. (he used a Ackley magnum calibre)
I've seen quite a few old Mausers with dovetaisl that are still shooting today and I have not read about any blowups or warnings. but I just wanted to get feedback from members here who have had far greater experience with Mausers that me.
